The last few half a dozen years has been really good for historical martial arts in the North East! Below are a few other area clubs you can train with and will see at area events.
PLVA studies many weapons common to the late 14th to early 15th centuries, mostly through the lens of the Italian fencing master Fiore de’i Liberi. They are based in Stratford, CT and host many events througout the year.
Black Cat Historical Fencing was founded in 2023 and is located in Warren, RI. BCHF is an educational nonprofit corporation dedicated to providing teaching and guidance in HEMA. They hold weekly weekly classes.
Thames River Historical Fencing is based in Ledyard, CT. They run classes on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 through the Ledyard Parks & Rec Department. Contact them for more info.
New Haven Historical Fencing is an active club based in New Haven, CT. They mainly study longsword fencing from late 14th/early 15th century German sources (very near and dear to my heart).
Laurel City Historical Fencing located in Winsted, CT is focused primarily on the study of the early masters of the Medieval German martial arts tradition.
WSTR practices out of Willimantic, CT and was founded in 2004. They are currently revamping their curriculum and focus on the early German martial arts tradition.
